When you attend a competition make sure you bring all the necessary swimming equipment including two towels; two swimming costumes (one training costume if required); two BPSC swimming hats; a T-shirt, sweatshirt and trainers to wear between races. Healthy snacks, such as a piece of fruit or energy bar,  are also very important and plenty of water!!!!

Click here for more information in our Guide to Entering Galas.

If you are new to competing it can be a bit overwhelming at first, but the coaches will be there to guide your child through the day. Galas are usually arranged in sessions (morning, afternoon and occasionally early evening) and each session will have a warm up time when swimmers are expected to be poolside, regardless of the time of their race. BPSC coaches will inform all swimmers, in advance, with a time they expect them to be poolside for each session.

Parents and carers can watch and support from the spectators’ gallery, however there is usually an entry fee which varies depending on galas and venues. BPSC encourages parents, families and friends to support and cheer swimmers on – making as much noise as possible!

BPSC welcomes and encourages an ongoing dialogue between swimmers, parents and coaches. Therefore if you have any questions regarding any aspect of your child’s swimming or which galas and races they should be considering entering please do not hesitate to approach the coaches poolside. We only ask that you speak to them at an appropriate time between sessions, when the swimmers are warming up. Or alternatively drop Tom, Head Coach, an email at headcoach@bpsc.club

Generally competitive galas are for swimmers over 9-years-old and all swimmers are encouraged to attend galas once they are in Development Squad. However, BPSC offers opportunities for swimmers to continue improving and practicing technique whilst regularly swimming without competing through our Junior and Senior Active squads.

1. The BPSC website now has an improved emailing system. Before this, some members reported that BPSC communications were going to their spam/junk folders. This is because some email providers (e.g. Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and Virgin) automatically assume that bulk email send-outs are junk.

Check your email programme’s spam/junk folder to see if your provider is sending BPSC emails there. You should see at the top of the email, a button to change this from ‘Junk’ to ‘Not junk’ and then BPSC emails will go to your inbox.

2. Alternatively, it may be that you have not set up your BPSC website account yet (particularly if you joined the Club  after August, 2020).

To set up your website account, please follow the simple steps shown here:

Register

If you have any queries regarding your BPSC website account, please email webadmin@bpsc.club .
